Job Title: Project Coordinator
Reports to: Kensington & Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director or designate
Position Type: Term position - Part-time - Anticipated: June 1, 2024 - March 31, 2025
Hourly: $25.00/hour (inclusive of vacation pay) 920 hours over the 9 month period
Position profile: The Kensington and Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC) seeks a dynamic team-player passionate about community to join our non-profit organization as our Project Coordinator for a project entitled “Planning for Resilience in Rural Business Communities”. This limited-term position is primarily responsible for managing and leading the delivery of an exciting new project focused on strengthening resilience to improve mental well-being in our community. Project development will be in collaboration with the Executive Director. Secondary duties include general office administration and providing day-to-day administrative support for the organization. Successful applicants may negotiate acceptable hybrid working conditions.
Duties/Responsibilities
Project:

Lead the KACC planning for Resilience in Rural Business Communities’ project including scope statement, schedule, budget, requirements and quality criteria.

Initiate and plan professional development sessions in collaboration with the Executive Director and respective Committee Members.

Launch and execute approved sessions in accordance with the approved plan and within the project timeline.

Implement and control plan tasks including progress reports established in the project plan.
Administration:

General Office Administration
General Requirements
-
Minimum of 2 years’ experience project management, or relevant leadership experience.
-
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders and build community relationships.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve program goals,
-
Proficiency in detail-oriented project management, working independently to manage multiple projects with commitment to compliance to insurance, legal, health and safety obligations.

Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
-
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, problem solve, and delegate.
-
Strong and effective communication skills.
-
Familiarity with Canva, Google Suite, and Microsoft applications.

General understanding of technology and information management systems.

Job Title: Marketing & Event Assistant
Reports to: Kensington & Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director or designate
Position Type: 8 weeks (35 hours/week) Anticipated: June 24, 2024 - August 16, 2024
Hourly: $15.40/hour (plus vacation pay)
Position Profile:
The Marketing & Event Assistant plays a crucial role in promoting the Chamber members, upcoming events and Chamber benefits. This position requires a blend of creativity, organization, and communication skills to ensure the smooth execution of marketing and planning and executing events.
Role and Responsibilities:

Promote current KACC benefits to the members and general community through social media, e-newsletter and website

Communicate with KACC members via social media, create a monthly e-newsletter and website updates when required
-
Provide regular updates to the Executive Director and Membership & Event Chair
-
Promote KACC, member businesses & events to the members and general community through social media, e-newsletter and website
-
Schedule & organize the KACC member of the week – social media post and arrange weekly radio interview
-
Visit KACC members throughout the summer and attend any special events they may have taking place
-
To develop, plan and oversee events over the summer months and assist in planning for any KACC events that are planned for the Fall

Assist the Project Coordinator with events and sessions being planned for “Planning for Resilience in Rural Business Communities” Project

General Administrative Duties
Qualifications and Experience
Have an interest in Business, Marketing, Public Relations and Event Management.
Experience with organizing events, volunteer committees, and community involvement would be an asset.

This position is funded through the Government of Canada’s Summer Jobs Grant and must meet pre-set guidelines.(must be between the ages of 15-30) and is a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident. The applicant does not have to be a returning student in the Fall.
Mandate
The Chamber is a Non-Profit organization of business people and corporations established with the objective to respond to the Kensington & Area business community's needs through valuable benefits, advocacy, and networking. The Chamber works hard to promote the interest of the business community to Government and the communities at large. KACC has over 150 members made up of entrepreneurs, corporations, as well as small and large businesses.
The Chamber is governed by a Board of Directors, who work to fulfill the mandate and mission of the organization. Each member in good standing is eligible to vote at the Annual General Meeting, held in February, on the election of board members, bylaw amendments, and the annual budget.
The organization operates under bylaws that are filed with Corporations Canada.
Organizations activities
The Kensington & Area chamber of Commerce plans and executes training sessions and networking events for the KACC membership. The chamber helps promote the members' businesses and their events and activities.
Some examples of events are a Casino Night, Awards Gala, Golf Tournament, numerous training sessions and networking events throughout the year.
